Nathan Anthony Furniture, a Los Angeles upholstery maker, has released its first line of case goods designed to match its custom sofas, sectionals and beds. The launch reflects a long-held goal of co-founder and CEO Khai Mai: storage pieces that share the brand's silhouettes and finishes. For homeowners and designers, the appeal is a single source for seating and storage that fits together without mismatched proportions or finishes.
Three Collections Built to Work With the Seating
The debut includes three collections, each engineered to integrate with the brand's sectionals, upholstered beds and sofas. Architecte and Miramar each offer four fully customizable case pieces: a nightstand with an open shelf, a nightstand with two drawers, a console available from 48 to 84 inches wide, and a four-drawer console. The Miramar collection also includes a curved, built-in bookshelf designed to wrap along the back of semi-circular seating, such as the Relax sectional and the Anders sofa, which the brand sells exclusively.
A third collection, Alais 2.0, offers a fully customizable console up to 84 inches wide, set on hand-turned alder wood feet with distinctive shapes. The capsule also extends into dining with custom banquette seating that includes concealed storage compartments and built-in provisions for electrical connections.
Why Matching Pieces Matter for Designers and Clients
Mai says the case goods grew out of requests from interior design partners who wanted the same design language across upholstery and storage. Nicole, the co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, adds that achieving matching scale, finish and silhouette is difficult when a designer sources seating and storage from two separate vendors. Each piece is built to order in Los Angeles and can be specified in a selection of wood finishes and specialty veneers.
For a household, the practical benefit is consistency. A console that matches the depth, arm height and finish of a nearby sofa can make a living room look planned rather than assembled over time. Built-in options like the Miramar bookshelf are designed for specific layouts, so buyers should confirm dimensions and room measurements before ordering. Custom work also usually means longer lead times than stock furniture, a point the company's built-to-order model implies but does not quantify in the supplied material.
Limits of the Announcement
The launch information comes from the company and describes product features, not independent testing of durability, storage capacity or pricing. Details such as costs, delivery schedules and warranty terms are not included in the source material and should be requested directly from the company or an authorized dealer. Nathan Anthony sells primarily through interior designers and upscale dealers, and its Los Angeles showroom is open to trade visitors by appointment, so individual consumers may need a designer or dealer to access the line.
